Acoustic
My dad has played guitar longer than we have been alive, and while he doesn't play as much as he used to, he is still a wonderful musician. It takes dedication to your craft and lots of passion to play as long as he has.
He gave me his Yamaha my mom bought him last year while moving. I strummed a few notes but didn't spend too much time playing...and now that I find myself spending a little more time by myself, I pick it up more often. I am inspired by my favorite female artists, Carol King and Billie Holiday, who don't have the average smooth female timbre that the music industry seems to favor so much. Both women struggled and suffered through terrible things that produced some fantastic music.
I have wholeheartedly jumped on the Americana genre bandwagon because of my love of all things acoustic. Guitars, pianos, minor drums to keep the beat, and vocal artistry is all that I need to cheer me up. I love how lyrics are so simple but melodies can be as simplistic or complicated as the artist makes it.

"You've got to get up every morning
With a smile in your face
And show the world all the love in your heart
Then people gonna treat you better
You're gonna find, yes you will
That you're beautiful, as you feel"
-"Beautiful" from Tapestry, Carole King
