Today

Today I had a call from someone I have been working with regularly for months now.  She cried tears of joy over the phone because all of our efforts have come to fruition.  She has what she needs now.

She told me, "I am so thankful that you are here for me.  I don't feel so lonely knowing that you are there to help."  This poignant yet simple statement reaffirms the importance of advocacy and the need for human connection. 

Do me one favor this week and help someone in a small way.  Hold the door open for someone.  Pay for someone's coffee.  Donate one canned good item.  Let some cut in front of you in line at Aldi.  Do something that helps another. 

Advocacy starts with helping others.  Advocate for kindness and strengthen your community.
