March

You know what? I don't feel all that bad about not posting because I know my only loyal reader is my sister Jessie and I talk to her about three times a week. :)

My social work field class is embarking on a blog, so I am updating now for postarity's (sp?) sake.

Evelyn is now running, and I mean running. Not only does she try to pull the plugs out of the sockets, but she also loves to:

  • pull her shirt up so we can see her belly button
  • smile demurely when she is doing something wrong
  • run around the room in circles
  • take all her toys out of the crate then sit in it
  • bite
  • hit Mommy when I'm not paying attention to her
  • throw her food on the floor for Sammy the pug and Izzy the bulldog when she is no longer hungry
  • share Wheat Thins with Sammy while sitting on the living room floor (ick!)
  • watch sports of Daddy
  • pout when I don't let her have her way
  • high five
  • wave goodbye

The worst part of about being a mommy and working is that I don't get to spend as much time with Evelyn as I would like. I've been working around 40 hours a week and taking 19 credit hours at UIS, which is starting to take its toll. I would love to be making more money, which would require me to work on the weekends, but I am definitely not willing to sacrifice what little time I spend with my daughter on the weekends.

Work at AARP has really picked up. Because the legislators are in session, our State Legislative Committee volunteers come to Springfield and I get to help with the hotel bookings, reminders, and food ordering. Because I am not allowed to do anything that would affect legislation through my AmeriCorps position, I am doing things that my coworkers don't have time to do--build a website, work on fact sheets, filling out sponsorship forms, and writing rejection letters to sponorship requests. Do I enjoy it? Well, yes, I do. I think that once I am finished with this semester, I will be better able to handle the work load.

****SPOILER ALERT****
Jacob M. McCoy has decided to go back to school! I can't speak for him, but I am most definitely excited for him, not to mention super proud. After discovering none of his credits from Western were going to transfer, he decided to start from scratch at Lincoln Land CC. He is planning on taking a couple of classes this summer to begin with.

Wedding plans? Well, I am kind of tired of talking about it, but I will tell you anyway! :) Jake and I will be getting married at the Washington Park Gazebo at 3:30pm on Saturday, August 28, 2010. Once we take pictures in the Rose Garden, we will then go the reception at the Brass Rail, which is located at the Howard Johnson near the airport. Fulgenzi's Trattoria is doing the catering and A Dyanim Sound is doing the DJing. Adam Nudo is our photographer. I believe that's about it...we will work on the smaller things her in a little bit.

I just finished a midterm and need to study for another, so that is it for now! I hope that everyone reading is doing well and I look forward to hearing from you.
