The Good and Bad of Being Two
Terrible Twos. Really? Sometimes I think, Geeze, this is what everyone was talking about, and then other times it's, Uh, this isn't so bad, guys. We have had several of these moments in the last couple of days and I thought I would share.
Yesterday I was busy putting the clean dishes away and Evie decided she wanted to color and told me as much. I got out her coloring books and crayons so she could color and continued to put away the clean dishes. When I finished, I turned around to find her drawing with a dry erase marker on our wall. Whoops. So now we have black marker on our wall, which I have yet to scrub off (or probably will just paint over).
Later in the evening I stepped on one of Evie's "Little People" and said, "OOOOOWWWW!" rather loudly.
Evie asks, "You okay, Mommy?"
I replied, "I'm fine, baby."
Evie walks over to me and pulls my hand to get me down to her level. She kisses me and says, "All better now!"
While playing with Daddy last night before bed, Evie managed to hit Daddy pretty hard. We had to explain to her that hitting is not nice and that we can play but gently. She FINALLY apologized and gave Daddy a hug...after several prompts and reminders.
Before leaving for school this morning, I told Evie to go say goodbye to Daddy. She runs up to him, hugs him, and says, "Yuh you," which translates to "I love you," without being prompted.
Tonight I was checking Facebook and Evelyn points to the laptop and says, "Stop it, Mommy." I asked what she was talking about and she replies with, "Mommy, don't touch. Stop it." She knows that she is not supposed to touch our computer and she thought she would be sassy enough to remind me.
She learns soooooo much at such a fast pace. Evie picks up on everything we say and do; sometimes we don't even realize it. I think the worst part of the "twos" is that her moods fluctuate so much--I know that we will get past this eventually. And I will let everyone know that my daughter is the most stubborn person that I have met. More than any of our relatives, more than Jake and I, and if any of you know our families, you would say that is quite an achievment, haha.
I wouldn't change my ornery little girl for the world!
