Ode to Ashley

Six and a half years ago, I met a girl named Ashley through a mutual friend. It was snowing like crazy at ISU and we decided this would be an excellent opportunity to go sledding down the hill in front of Watterson Towers. At the last minute, all of our friends decided that it was too chilly to go outside, but my not my fearless friend Ashley. We ended up spending a couple of hours sledding, and the bond of friendship was sealed. Who would have thought that one night of rambunctious play would lead to such an enduring friendship?

Mrs. Ashley Scaramelli will be moving out to state soon to be with her wonderful husband, and I will miss her beautiful face. We are so unbelievably happy for Dan and Ashley to begin this new chapter of their lives together, and hope that the move goes smoothly.

Ashley, this blog is for you, to let you know how much you mean to Jake, Evelyn, and me. You and Dan mean the world to us, and we wish you nothing but the best!!!! <3

I get all choked up thinking about the many, many, many times that you have made me smile and laugh on the many occasions when I felt like I wasn't up to the task.

You always listened to my ridiculous stories that never went anywhere.

You embraced me as I am.

You laughed at my crappy jokes that made no sense.

You listened to all disgusting things that babies do, specifically my baby.

You dressed up in goofy costumes with me.

You shared my ridiculous love of all things '80s.

You believed that I could have a family and finish school.

You loved to go to concerts with me.

You were there for me on my wedding day.

And blessed me by allowing me to share yours.

Most of all, you loved to be yourself. You are an inspiration to everyone with your kindness, listening, humor, and love. Thank you for being a part of my life, Ashley. You have certainly made it better just by being in it.
