4th of July
Happy belated birthday, America! To celebrate the signing of the Declaration of Independence, Jake, Evelyn, Rich, Laurie, and I headed up to Des Plaines to celebrate with Ginny and Devin. We started off Sunday at the Taste of Chicago where we ate some AMAZING food and got some lovely sunburns.
After we ate until we were ready to pop, we all headed back to Des Plaines to hang out Ginny and Devin's apartment and spent the remainder of the weekend there. The Des Plaines 4th of July parade was hit--we even got to see Governor Quinn.
Overall, we had a fabulous weekend spent with [part of] the McCoy clan. I'm so glad that we were able to drive to see Ginny and Devin. Enjoy the pictures and I hope you are having an amazing week!
Love,
Sarah
PS I wanted to share the sangria recipe that we used to help celebrate the weekend. Nothing like a refreshing glass of liquored-up juice to kick things off!
I took my cues from a recipes on allrecipes.com, but made some changes to fit our needs. Enjoy!
Ingredients:
2 cups seltzer water
1 bottle Moscato wine
11.5 oz apple juice concentrate
11.5 oz orange juice concentrate
1/4 cup grenadine
1/2 cup vodka
1/4 cup triple sec
1 orange, sliced into rounds
1 lemon, sliced into rounds
1 lime, sliced into rounds
Cherries to garnish
Combine all the ingredients in the order mentioned, with the exception of the seltzer water which I added last. Sangria is best served chilled...this took about 2.5 hours.
