#HungerAction
Our event at the Central Illinois Foodbank was a success!
My GM, DM, an associate and some of her family, along with other community volunteers added up to 21 people...in approximately 90 minutes, we sorted through over 25,000 pounds of food (26 pallets which is just over a semi-truck full of food!).
I was so filled with joy by the end of our event, knowing that we had done something so valuable to our community. The best part of it all is that so many of the people that volunteered committed to coming back on their own time to continue the good work.

Our family also survived the SNAP Challenge. The average household on SNAP only receives $4.50 per person for a daily food allowance. It took a lot of planning ahead of time and eating lots of leftovers, but we made it through the end of the week stronger for having to make smart decisions about meals.
One of our best meals was the vegetable beef soup I made on Day 4 of the Challenge.
September isn't gone yet. Help a local charity or your favorite organization to spread awareness about #HungerAction Month!
